Adoption - Single Father

ORIGINAL POST

Does anyone have any experience or advice for someone looking to be an adoptive single father in Hong Kong? Can anyone suggest how to find a suitable adoption lawyer to help with the process if necessary?

Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

My understanding is that in HK legal adoption requires two parents who have to be appropriately screened and counselled...that is what we went through with the social services...you might discuss with them first before speaking to a lawyer...just a thought.

All adoptions in HK go through the HK Social Services. An adoption lawyer is not necessary. Single women can adopt so it may be the same for single men. Give them a call, they are very helpful and are the best people to answer your question.

Agree with Ailsa. Social Welfare Department people are quite helpful. I have spoken with them. Yes, single fathers can adopt too. I was told though 4 out of the last 100 children through SWD were adopted by single parents and all of them were women. I am exploring options too. PWL, wanna exchange notes?
