Was ur doctor dr.Ho?

I just did ivf at qmh with him, thought he was pretty good. I think the doctor is more important than the hospital.

If u've made up your mind I heard pretty good things about dr. Doo. Who does ivf at sanatorium.

Good luck!!!

This reply may be a bit late but ...

First, the hospital is more important than the doctor. To be specific, the lab and embryologist is more important. An IVF doctor confided this to me personally.

Secondly, we've done 3 cycles at Sanatorium, and while the hospital is great, we have concluded that their lab/embryologist is not. Aside from a major mistake in the freezing process for our specific case, in general, they don't release their statistics which to me, is suspect.

As a result, our doctor (who is well known in HK but will remain nameless here) has compiled his own personal statistics since the Sanatorium won't provide them. Surprisingly, his success rate at the Sanatorium was 30% but his success rate at another lab was 40%. The other doctors who use this other lab also have 40% success rates so our doc is in line with them. Food for thought.

Actually, as negative as I seem to be about the Sanatorium, our final frozen cycle (third) was successful! We had already decided to switch labs for our 4th cycle, but we were pleasantly surprised, so a switch is not necessary after all.

Regarding the other lab, it is Prolivfic. What I find very interesting is that their 40% success rate (for our age) is achieved by transferring Day 2 embryos which is pretty early. Even my IVF doctor friend in the US was quite surprised by that. Compare that to the 30% at Sanatorium which does up to Day 5 blast transfers (which supposedly increases the chances of a successful implantation) and you have some interesting figures. Makes you wonder how low Sanatorium's numbers would be if they only did Day 2s or how high Prolivfic's would be if they did Day 3 or Day 5 transfers.

Congratulations on your third cycle success! And thank you for posting your success. Often on discussion boards, I see posts from people who have tried ivf but have not followed up with saying whether or not it was successful. Hearing your success story gives me hope.

My husband and I are moving to HK in a few months and have started researching clinics online. Based on your experience at Sanatorium and knowing what you know now, would you go through them again or would you have tried another clinic, like Prolivfic?

Do you mind giving an approximate cost for how much you spent?

Was your second and third frozen cycle from your first cycle's egg retrieval?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. It is great to have a support network of other couples going through the ivf process. Again, congratulations on your ivf success. I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy.
