URGENT - BABY DELIVERY MATTERS

ORIGINAL POST

Have been asked to help from a freind's family.

Expectant mother arrived from overseas (not China) to reside in HK. HKID is pending but it will be issued before the delivery date est.early April. The problem is she cannot find a hospital to take her (earliest date is now October according to most public hospitals).

Money not an issue so are there private options that she can take? I've no idea so just want to ask for help on her behalf

Any advise welcome

Once the expectant mother has a HK ID card the public hospital will accept her. Basically they have to as it is a right of a HK resident to access public health services. However without an ID card she will not get a place as each public hospital has a quota of non-residents that can deliver there and they would be full by now. Just wait until she has her ID card and then she can register at the nearest public hospital. In the meantime she could see a private OBGYN to keep up her antenatal care. Private hospitals are different as they are probably fully booked by now though you might be lucky enough to find a place.
