Please help! Any advice on Dr. Michael Rogers, Dr. Stephanie Chow & Dr. Eric Lee

Hello!


I just found out that I’m pregnant (1st time) and need a Dr. in Hong Kong (I live in Southern China). My insurance company suggested Dr. Michael Rogers, Dr. Stephanie Chow and Dr. Eric Lee.


I went to see Dr. Rogers today but didn’t get the greatest impression. It was as if he didn’t want to be there and basically had been doing this for far too long. He also made some odd comments which were a bit surprising. Anyway, I’m sure he is very good but I was hoping to find a Dr. who was more "involved" and/or engaging. Is this even possible?


Now we are discussing if we should meeting with Dr. Chow and Dr. Lee?


Any suggestions, advice, help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!

Haha, I totally understand what you mean. But, him being all of means there is absolutely nothing wrong now. And his jokes are dry, no? He used to teach at University and was a professor until recent and not a field doctor so he won't have the commercial charm.


I am with him for 5 years now, he delivered my 2 angels. For the first pregnancy, yes I had doubts about him. But it's his style. When you DO have problems, trust me, he is super engaging. I won't go into details but, for my first delivery, I lost tons of blood, if it were not for him, I would have not survived, No.2 was a complicated pregnancy and he was there teaming up with specialists.


His own wife had a difficult pregnancy/ delivery so he understands what motherhood means and will do everything in his capacity to make the transition smoothe.



He still remembers both my children and whenever we bump into him, he would tell them how big and happy they've become and be good to mommy, of course in his own way!!!

I can see for sure that in 20 years time, I can send the kids to meet him and he will remember the delivery.


I glad that I am with him.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I have no doubts he is a very capable and good doctor. I'm so glad to hear that he is super engaging in emergency's too! I just was a bit concerned as we basically told me that everything you read about not doing that you could do IE: easting sushi because you probably have too much mercy in your body already etc.....I was just a bit surprised and with it being my first pregnancy I was hoping for a bit more enthusiasm.


Do you know anything about Dr. Stephanie Chow or Dr. Eric Lee


I've heard that Mathilda is supposed the be the best hospital for giving birth but what about Adventist, Canossa Hospital and St Teresas Hospital?


As this is all new, I'm just trying to sort it all out. Thank you again for your advice and comments!!!

Aaaaa~~. OK, well you know what, he assumes that you already know these informations from the internet. The key is, if you are worried about something, you ask him. Just ask him, " is it ok to eat sushi?"

During my 2nd pregnancy, he told me to stop surfing the net, the more I will follow every single thing said on the internet, the more I will be stressed out and THAT will release bad chemicals for the baby.


I come from Japan but, did you know that pregnant ladies DO eat sushi? It's only the silver fishes that they avoid due to the concentration of Mercury in those fishes. In the Champagne area, the mothers drink champagne once in a while as tradition says they make beautiful babies, at baptism, the babies have a tiny spoon of champagne because of tradition. We'll see in 16 more years if my babies turn out screwed up.


I do not know of the other doctors you mentioned, none of my friends had them. I am so sorry not to be a help.


For the hospitals, I only know the Matilda. Dr. Rogers squeezed me in and to tell you, no wonder it is called "Hotel Matilda." You get to choose your own food( the dover sole, you must try), they will make sure you are comfortable with breast feeding if you choose to, I think the Matilda Hospital has made my delivery experience exceptional. I do not know the system now but, 2.5 years ago, the moment you knew you were pregnant, you HAD to tell your OB that you wished to book yourself to the Matilda.


I hope that some other people chip in so that you can make a great decision to have your experience a great one!!!
