I came off the pill just over a year followed by a miscarriage 8 months ago I have been unable to conceive using the usual methods (OPKs), tracking dates etc.
I also tried a short spell of accupunture around 4 months ago.
The obvious next step is to go to a doctor to get some assistance.
I know its not my partner as he has kids from his previous marriage (unless things have changed?).
I'm just wondering what the dr is likely to suggest for the next step, or if I will undergo some basic tests to see if there is anything preventing me conceiving?
The silly thing is that when I conceived 8 months ago it was when I wasn't thinking about it as I thought it would take months for my body to adjust to coming off the pill!
I'm just turning 40 so don't want to wait much longer before getting help. Any advice?

Hi cheeky,
I think the best thing to do is to see a good fertility doctor and do some basic tests. I went through the whole process too - had very irregular period after coming off pills. What the doctor will do first is a blood test to check whether your hormone levels are normal (FSH, LH, prolactin etc). You may also have to take a transvaginal scan to check whether you have special conditions such as PCOS or endometriosis. Based on the test result, the doctor will recommend a next step.
There are a lot of good fertility doctors in HK - Philip Ho, Derek Lo, Milton Leung, Christine Cho, to name a few. You can find plenty of discussions on them on this forum. I myself went to Philip Ho and Derek Lo and both of them were good.
Hope this helps!

Thank you littlecloud - just wondering what to expect! I am actually based in Singapore at the moment - but would probably go to Derek Lo if in HK. I've done some searching on this website and found someone who seems to be recommended in Sing. If anyone has any recommendations for Singapore please let me know.
Thanks!
