Birth Certificate at Kowloon Registry: Any Experience?

I need to get a birth certificate for my son who was born recently in Kowloon. The system for getting a birth certifictate here is ridiculous. You either have to make an appointment (the earliest available time is March 5th which would not give me enough time to get a passport to travel to Australia) or you queue up at the office in Yau Ma Tei. I arrived at the office yesterday 90 minutes before opening and there were already 60 people in the line. I had to leave as I had no idea how long I would be waiting. Has anyone got a birth certificate in this manner? If so how long was the wait?

It will be different everyday to be honest. When I got my daughter registered in 2007 I went early on a Saturday and was done and out in less than 30 mins. So you need to retry.
