Pregnant in Saigon

ORIGINAL POST

My partner and I recently discovered that we are pregnant. I just arrived here, and will stay for three years. (The pregnancy wasn't exactly planned, but we are both really excited!)

Any suggestions on groups of women I could talk to or networks with whom I can discuss giving birth and caring for children in Vietnam?

Thank you for your help.

Hi

I am in Saigon and pregnant too. I am now 31 weeks pregnant. Just like you, I am looking for someone who I can help too in discussing about taking care of new born baby etc. Did you manage to find any other mothers which can chat?

Mummum,

I haven't managed to hook up with any other pregnant women's groups... yet. I know that ILV usually has alot of women who have BEEN moms, and I've had some single friends try to be supportive and have arranged 'causal' meetings with other pregant women, but nothing formal and nothing has really stuck. I feel pretty alone in this whole process really, and if it wasn't for my fiance I don't know what I would do.

Anyways, I'm at the point where if I find a woman who'se had a child or children already... and she speaks English, then I start asking her questions about childbirth, breastfeeding, epidurials, etc.

Mummum - where are you giving birth? FV?

Hi

FV is too far from where I am living. Currently I am seeing my gynae from Victoria Healthcare My My Clinic in Dist 1. The gynae is Dr. Dung (a Vietnamese) and she speaks English. The consultation price is US$6.50 per consultation unlike HCMC Family Medical Practise and Columbia Asia US$60 per consultation. The facilities in Victoria is quite advance and their services are good too. As of which hospital to give birth, we are not confirm yet. Most properly will be SI Hospital in Dist 1.

Which clinic are you going for your check-up? How many months pregnant are you now and when is your EDD?
