FET - have to get married to get our baby!

I just want to share this with those who have done IFV before and have some frozen embryos in storage and are not married...... GET MARRIED!

We recently went back to our Dr. to start the procedure for FET. 1st and 2nd time we had to cancel when the lining was not perfect for the transfer. Then on the 3rd try, the Dr. said it was all OK. After receiving all the medications etc, the nurse told us to go back to IVF centre to sign the papers and show our marriage certificate.

Since August 1 2007, the HK government has become very strict about who can have IVF treatment. The IVF centre is now strictly required to check a wedding certificate. Previously they mentioned you needed to be married, but no need to show any proof.

There we were! All ready but not officially married. We already have a healthy 16 months old girl. And now we were forced to get married. Thats what we did, after having to cancel the 3rd try.

How backward HK can be sometimes. I am from the Netherlands originally, nobody ever questions if you are married or not in these situations.

We wanted to get married after number 2 and now we had to do it very quickly so my parents were not able to join and some of our best friends were away on holiday.

Anyway, just wanted to share this with you as there might be some people out there in the same situation.

We are now ready for try #4. Wish us luck!

Good luck. We had the same but different situation. Had been together for 6 years, own a home and cars together, are the recipients of each others insurance policies, have a child together but in order for me to get a visa we had to have a quicky wedding at the town hall before we came here for my husbands job....what joy!! We'd been engaged for 2½ years and we're going to be getting married this summer anyway but instead it was last feb...oh well!
