New born innoculations

Is it true that if you deliver in the public hospitals they do not administer the innoculations when you are there. instead you need to either get them done privately or through a government clinic at a later date ?

Babies are given the necessary immunizations as required by the Department of Health in Hong Kong before discharge. These include hepatitis B and BCG for tuberculosis. Babies born to hepatitis B mothers are also given Hepatitis B Immunoglobulin during the first 24 hours of life. Oral polio vaccine is no longer given to newborns in hospital but is commenced as injectable polio at two months of age in accordance with the Hong Kong Childhood Immunisation Programme.

In Hong Kong, childhood immunisation programme has been established for many years. It includes vaccines for the prevention of tuberculosis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, measles, mumps and rubella. In 2006, the Scientific Committee on Vaccine Preventable Diseases of the Centre for Health Protection, Department of Health, updated the recommendations on the local childhood immunisation programme. The updated childhood immunisation programme was launched on 1 February 2007*.
