Egg Donor

ORIGINAL POST

I have gone thru IVF twice at Clement Ho's practice using donated eggs but have been unsuccessful even though all of the FE were of very high quality. Am now on wait list for next try but wait list is quite long. Anybody know of other IVF clinics that practice with anonymous donors? I know egg donation is quite uncommon in HK, but this is my only way.

Mungee,

I looked into this last year (before I got pregnant with a natural cycle of IUI). As far as my research showed, Victoria Lab (in Prince's building) is the only place you can get eggs from anonymous donors. If you have your own donor, then other REs can help you.

Dear Havefaith

Thanks, but this is the Lab that I have tried and am still trying with - unfortunatley, the list is quite long and unfortunately, I don't have my own donor :-) Did you reseach outside of HK....Thailand, US, China? Anthing you are willing to share would be much appreciated !

Mungee,

I remember reading old threads about donor eggs in Spain and Thailand. You might want to do a search for old threads on this frong.

My research was not very extensive on the donor egg front becaus I started looking around me to see if I can get a friend or a relative to help out.

Sorry I cant be of more help.

Thanks Havefaith - maybe I should start looking around me too. Problem is just don't know where to start ! A donor (anonymous or designated) is my only chance

Dear Chocolatefactory,

Are you able to help find out from your friends and give me a little bit more info. Did your friends just go thru regular IVF or did they have donated eggs. If they used donated eggs, were they from a person they know or an anonomous person that Modern Hosipital arranged. I am not even sure if China runs any egg donation programs as in HK, I can only find one clinic. I have thought about China but don't even know where to start ! I will also look up Modern Hopitals website but would very much appreciate any information you can find out from your friends.

Abitnaive - thanks for the info !

Mungee,

By chance I saw your thread here, which I am in the same situation - desperate to do IVF with donated egg. I were used to see Dr. William So before, but since it doesn't sound there is any organization or private clinic in HK do practice with anonymous donors, so there is nothing for him to try on me. Besides, I tried to search more info from internet, which I found there are some private clinics do this practice in Taiwan. Myself have made a visit to one of the clinic, staffs are professional and place is clean (in fact, I had no time to consult from Dr. that visit, but the staffs are well educated to answer my all questions. And my mandarin sucks, but they still try their best to speak in English) and I sort of registered my basic personal info with them and have my file opened. The waiting time is usually 3-6 months, charge is about TW$15,000-25,000 including the legal compensation fee to the donor.

If you can read Chinese, here is the link: http://www.e-stork.com.tw/index.do

another one I never visit, but I also found it from internet: http://www.babymaker.com.tw/index.asp

I hope it may give you a clue about private clinic do practice with anonymous donors in Asia. To myself, I have spent a lot of time on searching such info, but I still go down to the choice in Taiwan since the issue of safety, quality, ethnicity and legal (both egg donor and receiver are protected by Taiwan law since last year)

All the best!! I will try to update my situation when I get ready for the procedure.

We did egg donation/IVF in Thailand with Dr Wiwat at Sri Siam, Bangkok.

It is a small and excellent outfit and entirely trustworthy.

We now have a beautiful 11-week old boy

We saw photos before going to Thailand,

You can request photos and info by email from:

Dear LittlePanda and Paulseb

Thanks both of you v. much for the info.

Paulseb - I had seen a little info on Thailand, but not so much detail and esp not from somebody with some actual experience, let alone a success. Many congratulations - you must be so so thrilled with your baby boy! I know that you must be very busy with your young baby, but if you have time, I really would appreciate it if you could share with me your experience - how many times did you have to go down to Thailand, where there just Thai egg donors for you to select from. There are just so many questions I'd like to ask you, but do understand that you are very busy at this moment.

Little Panda - somehow, Taiwan is not something that had crossed my mind as an option before (although I have done a little research on US). Definitely something I need to explore as I agree with you that this could indeed be a very viable option for us. US is just so hard cos it is so far away, even if you are able to find an Asian egg donor. Have you tried my clinic in HK yet? PM me if you want to know more details.
