Anyone have any information on this? Please help...
Thank you.

If you have insurance that already covers pregnancy and maternity you will have to use that. It's impossible to find a company that will cover you once you already know that you're pregnant.

hey,
I am planning to give birth in USA, Any idea abt insurance there? I am not yet pregnant, but planning only..... it's very expensive I heard, how can I make it cheaper? My first daughter, now 10mths old was delivered at govt hospital in HKG, n it only costed less than $500, so cheap!!

Hi Karen Brar,
$500? That's cheap, was it QM? If so, how do you like it? My hubby wants Maltida and I think QM will be OK too.
As for giving birth in US, I came across a website yesterday to help ppl to do so... in terms of cost, i dont know, are you US citizen? As i know, there are programs for uninsured US citizen mothers to give birth...

I gave birth at Kwong Wah, but QMH shall be same. I was just in public ward, nothing special. To me, I don't think it's worth speanding so much money just to give birth, why not keep it for the baby's future use. Mine was a normal delivery, no complication.
Pam, Can you give me more details for US delivery. I am born n raised upp in HKG, Indian. Hv 10 year US visa, but not resident, hv relatives living there. help!!

Karen Brar,
This is my first, but I am not entirely sure about the whole US delivery procedure, however, I do have experience w/ the US medical system. I am a US citizen, and all the info I know is for US citizen though... as far as i know, non US citizen or residents have to pay full price for medical expenses in the State... and it's not cheap at all! Just wondering, do you have insurance here? will that cover certain amount of international medical expenses?
:o?

It will depend the level of coverage you want. Some local insurance plans (BUPA, HSBC, AIA, Manulife, Bluecross, etc) will cover maternity inpatient but there is always a coverage limit on it and few of them will cover pre-natal check ups. Overseas insurance companies (IHI, William Russell, Goodhealth, Cigna, Interglobal, AXA PPP, etc) tend to have a higher coverage or even no limit for maternity benefits.
You may contact any insurance brokers to compare different plans between different insurance companies. Some of the factors you will need to consider like: waiting period, coverage level, newborn coverage, direct settlement with hospital, etc.
Our Hospital have direct billing arrangement with most of the major international insurance companies, please feel free to contact us should you need further assistance.

Allianz International Plan is one of the ONLY ones that covers FULL Maternity in Hong Kong.
Christian at Kwiksure is very good and can give you a chart of different policies, their coverage and their costs.
Not sure about USA policies.
For a discussion on Allianz and their coverage, this one is short and useful:
