IVF long/short protocol

Hi,

I am currently seeing a fertility specialist in Hong Kong and am considering to do IVF. I heard that there are long (with supress stage) and short (w/o supress stage)protocols for IVF. My doctor intends to do a short protocol on me.

Later I have done some research myself on the Internet, and found that short protocol is for patients with high FSH and above 35.

My FSH was low and I am in early 30s. So, why is my doctor recommending short protocol for me? Anyone can share your experience?

Hi bb55, I would ask your specialist to explain the pros and cons of the short vs long protocol for you. I'm older and not a great responder, my FSH is around 8. I have done the both the long protocol and short. Both were not great! But you are right that generally the short protocol is offered to older ladies with high FSH or poor response. Hope you get some answers from your specialist.
