Dress for a special occasion

Hi all,

I need a nice dress for a wedding that makes me look radiant rather than frumpy.

I have a wedding to go to in Thailand so would need to be a good summer fabric and I don't have time to have anything made.

I know that there are 101 websites on here for maternity wear but would like to know your opinions. Price is not a problem, would rather fork out for a nice dress than go cheap.

Cheers

HI there,

If price is really not a problem then Isabella Oliver does some gorgeous stuff - I just checked and they have some new dresses since I was pregnant and I knwo they do international delivery

Alternatively Homme Mummy also has great stuff - I had one of their dresses copied when I was 37 weeks pg and it looked fantastic

Crave maternity are slightly more affordable!

They are my top 3 recommendations - I seemed to have quite a few weddings and balls to go to during pregnancy and it makes all the difference to wear something funky and gorgeous! Of course these are all websites, there are a few shops in HK which do great stuff but I'm sure you know them all already!

Thanks Spicegal, that's great. Will check them all out.

Could you recommend any shops in HK that I could go to. My concern is that if I order online, if I need to exchange for a diff size then I will have no time.

Have just been on all those sites and have bought a lovely strapless dress from Isabella Oliver - will be perfect for the evening party which is on a beach.

Thanks so much!!!

Glad to be of help - they have some absolutely lovely things don't they?

BTW I never bought any maternity wear in HK - I either had it donated by friends or bought online so wouldn't have been able to help you with your previous question!!

The funny thing is, our company makes maternity wear for Topshop. Really nice stuff but very casual - jeans and combats. Not much use for a wedding.

Am going to wait till my dress arrives to check the sizing and then will buy some more bits and pieces. Thanks again!

Ooh Vulvic, I love Topshop maternity -- do you guys have an outlet store in Hong Kong?

Unfortunately not. The bugger of it is that I am a size 12 and all the samples are in a 10! Ocassionally I will get a larger sized sample but few and far between.

There were talks of opening a Topshop here in HK last year, possibley in Mongkok. Plans seem to have stalled so not sure when it will happen.

Ohh, I am happy to take the size 10s off you! Although it seems to be a hit or miss what I fit into these days -- I can still fit into some of my pre-preg. clothes (Size 8 UK) but then the other day, I had to buy size large bras from Calvin Klein!!

I never get to see them until one of the other girls is wearing them - these Mums-to-be are very competitive, lol.

Lol! If they are that competitive over the clothes can you imagine what they will be like with their kids?

Wow - half my maternity wardrobe came from Topshop - they have great funky basic stuff... never found anything like that in HK - then again didn't look too hard as I'd been warned!!

I'm now 7 mths pregnant and usually shop in one little ladies wear shop "Mayeelok" in Central (Hong Kong). I love their silk one-pieces with beautiful prints very much!
