Hi to all the moms.
I have a very difficult situation to deal with and need help. I am 6 months pregnent and due in March. Now due to unavoidable circumstances, i have to fly to India in Jan and can only get back in Feb last week. I want to deliver my 2nd baby in HK. Now I want to know if anybody has experienced flying an 8 hour flight during the 9th month of pregnency. I strongly want to deliver in HK. Is it safe to fly as my date of flying would be about 3 weeks before my EDD. I had delivered 9months 3 days for my 1st child and had a C-section. Is there anything that I can do to comfort myself on flight. Please suggest your opinions if it is safe to fly and any personal experience.
Thanks a ton for your time.

I'm not sure if they'll allow you to fly 3 weeks before EDD. Cathay Pacific allows pregnant women up to 36 weeks, other airlines probably earlier. Please check with the airline you are travelling with first.

I m flying Cathay n they allow upto 36 weeks with a doctors certificate...so I guess they will not have any reason not to allow me to travel as I would be 33 weeks by the time fly bac.
Thanx

Sorry I must have read wrongly. 3 weeks before EDD I thought would be 37 weeks! Anyway, I flew at 33 weeks back to my home country however that was only a 4 hour flight. No problems at all although I had to get up from my seat to stretch & walk every hour during the flight to avoid DVT. Doc's instructions....!

Regardless of when you are due, I would ask your doctor. Only he/she can advise you what is best for your situation. If you have any difficulties or complications, ie., high blood pressure, etc., then you doctor can recommend what the best thing to do is.

You need to get your priorities straight. Baby comes first, not India.

bb79 - I agree with the above that you should talk to your doctor about flying as you will need a note from them anyway (the rules have just changed I believe so that you need a letter from 28 weeks).
And graeme - how about some helpful responses given that bb79 said that her reasons for going to India were unavoidable. Given that the airlines have no issue with pregnant women flying up to 36 weeks, not sure why you have such a strong reaction to it.
