hi all,
i am on my 36 weeks and will be packing my hospital bag for delivery in QMH. through other threads, i've found the items that i need to pack but can someone please help me on "how many" i should pack for the following items-
1. waterproof under pads
2. old style maternity pads
3. new born diapers
4. nursing pads
5. disposable maternity panties
cheers!

From memory
- watreproof under pad sheet things - at least one pack (think they come in 10's) otherwise they'll send your husband to buy another pack
- old style maternity pads, a few - you'll need to take one or two with you to the delivery room, plus have a spare for if they need to help you change the pad post birth eg you end up in C-section. Once you're moving around you'll be changing your own so can use whatever you want (but be warned you'll want heavy dury pads)
- newbord diapers - I'd just take a packet
- nursing pads - didn't need any personally in fact barely used them in a year of breast feeding, but I was not a "leaker"
- disposable maternity panties - again a few pieces, hopefully you'll only be in for a couple of days post birth and can then revert to more comfortable attire!
For items 1, 2, and 5 you can get as part of a "hospital pack" - used to cost around $100 from the little shop just around the corner (on the hill) from the Tsang Yuk - assume you will have been there if you are going to QMH for birth.
Good luck and hope all goes well.

thanks for the reply, sarah. i didn't want to pack too much and pack too less so guess i'll be packing according to your suggestion.
i did get items 1, 2 and 5 from ah chi co (that lil shop near tsan yuk). since the packs of items 1, 2 and new born diapers are quite bulky, looks like my hubby will have to drag a mini-suitcase with him!
thanks for the good wishes too! i'm looking forward to giving birth despite the pain.

Ah yes Ah chi co that's the shop - the tardis shop we used to call it.
Put it this way if you don't have enough in the mini suitcase when you "check-in" they just tell your husband to go and buy more. I did not use items 1. 2. and 5. after "checking-out" you can always donate on any left overs you have to save dragging them away again.
Personally I think you're mad to be looking forward to the birth :-) but am sure you mean you are so over being pregnant and just want the 'lil bundle home. You're on the final stretch so enjoy those lay ins whilst you still can.

i don't think u'll need ot bring nursing pads. i was a leaker, but my milk didn't come up yet until i got home. so there's not much use for them in the hospital.
