DVT/flight socks for puffy feet

ORIGINAL POST

I'm 32 weeks now and being on my feet all day at work means I come home with feet like a hobbit. This weekend out of desperation I started wearing those flight socks that are meant for long flights, and I can't believe the difference it has made ! Legs feel light and refreshed and no more puffy feet ... but does anyone know of any reason why wearing these kind of socks every day isn't such a good idea ? Anyone else suffering from tired legs/puffy feet? I know that best thing is to elevate legs but sometimes that's just not possible until I get home.

Have you tried graduated compression stockings? They are tightest at the ankle and gradually decreases up the leg so they gently compress your leg muscles and help circulate the blood normally. I don't think flight socks work as weel as they only go up to the knee.

I used the socks and the stockings - they are both great.

My only problem was by the last few weeks hubby had to help me put them on!

Anything that works, and keeping your feet up, is a good thing!

Yes, Cri, my husband is already having to pull them on for me in the morning !

Where could I buy graduated compression stockings Claire ? Have tried B2B and Mothercare and didn't find any.

I think Mothercare would have the maternity support ones. For the graduated compression ones, you may have to try a medical supply shop such as Medimart in Wanchai.

I founhd the maternity tights very tight - not sure how comfortable something even tighter would be?

Where is Medimart located? Looked on their website but is in Chinese, no English link. Thx.

The website gives one address in Wanchai, 2 Johnston Road. That's on the corner with Landale Street, near the Wesley Hotel. Think that's where the Ford showroom is too.

The others are in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon City and Metro City.
