My husband and I were told we had a very slim chance of conceiving due to a low/slow sperm issue. Took a test this morning (6 days late and usually regular as clockwork) and was shocked to see the little pink line appear! We are thrilled and a bit dumbfounded, and we have only recently arrived in HK for a minimum 2 year work contract. My main question to you all is where to from here??!! I have no idea how the health system works in HK. Can anyone reccommend a doctor in Wan Chai? I am not covered privately for maternity.
Are there any groups out there for first time mums - any reccommended reading?

Congrats!. The private doctors and hospitals are indeed very expensive if you are not covered. Friends of mine who were not covered have had good experiences with Queen Mary hospital for check-ups and delivery so perhaps you would like to contact them.

Hi, thankyou for your replies. We are living in Wan Chai, just off Queens Rd East near Ship St. I will definitely need to go public, so I am looking for an OB nearby. I have heard good things about the Queen Mary too, I just don't know where to start! Can I go there for my first check up to confirm the pregnancy?

Yes, just call the hospital to arrange your appointment with them. Please know that's your first appointment should usually be when you are around 6-8 weeks pregnant, but there is no harm in calling them already to arrange it all.
