St. Teresa, Baptist or Union Hospital

We are only one year here in HK and have no expierence with the hospital. And now I am choosing the hospital and do not want to travel too far. This is my second pregenacy. Three years ago, I deliverd my son through an emergency c-section and would prefer to try the nature birth again this time. But I really have a few concerns. My son was quite big - 3800g. People told me, the second one will usally bigger than the first baby. So I am worried about it will be c-section again. In addtion, I planned to take a amniocentesis and also would like to know your experience with the doctors.

So, is there any mother there, who got there baby delivered in these hospitals? Will you recommend it and could you please share you experience?

Thanks a lot in advance.

I cant tell you much as I did not have my baby at any of the hospitals, but recently, my Hubby visited St Teresa & said that it was one of the cleanest Hospis he has seen in HKG. The staff too were excellent.

All the best!

A friend just gave birth in St. Theresas, she said it was great. It was an induced delivery since the baby was overdue and in distress.

Anybody notice that there are so many more pregnant women out there in the last year and a half, or is it just me cause I never wanted to before???? :D

Thank you for the positive feedback. I have tried to call St. Theresa, but the guy pick up the phone hasn't been able to understand me well and just asked me to visit the hosital first. It made me feels not so good.

I was reading your posting hoping to find some hospital information for myself. Just dipped the stick if you know what I mean.

But I may be able to answer some of your V-BAC questions as I have been through it myself. My first son (now 10) was a 9lbs 9oz and was delivered by emergency c-section after a very long labor. He was simply too large to fit through the birth canal. With my second child (now 2), I was much more careful in my pregnancy. I walked 2 miles everyday and watched what I ate. I gained 50lbs with the first one and only 28 with the second. I believe this made a real difference.

I also had an excellent Dr. in the States who carefully monitored the size of the baby before we made the trail of labor.

Probably the most important factor that I need to mention to you is that it will depend on your incision if your uterus can tolerate the stress of labor. Your previous inscision must have been transverse for you to attempt a V-BAC. You cannot tell by looking at your scar because they may have made a bikini cut on the outside for appearance. You need to get your old medical records and take them to your Dr.

Hope this info helps.

Doing some thread necromancy. Would any of you ladies be able to recommend Teresa or another hospital in Kowloon? And more importantly can you recommend a doctor?

Thanks all.
