Hi I am newly pregnant, am going to Joe Chan so I have a few hospitals to choose from, we are mostly looking at Sanatorium, Adventist and St Teresa (in kowloon). My question to you girls is if anyone has had any birthing experiences at these hospitals? And if the hospitals let you have your baby at bedside all the time and breastfeed in bed? Please let me know if you have any positive or negaitve experiences at these hospitals, thanks, tay

Essentially you can choice but you need to be VERY vocal about your choice. Some places will want to take the bub off you for 24 hours so you can rest. Just tell you want the baby to stay with you and you want to breastfeed immediately after birth. They may resist, but as long as you keep telling them and don't accepting no for an answer (unless there is a medical reason ie oxygen therapy).

Bummer, my doc doesn't practice there. So I went to St. teresa today to have a "tour" basically you just wander around their maternity ward. IT WAS SCARY! the rooms with 3-6 women in them looks horrible, and then there was a line of tired new mothers in their pjs lined up at this door that said "feeding room" I guess there are only 4 scheduled times to breastfeed your baby, and the baby isn't allowed into rooms, and even if you have your mom or friends come by, the baby can only be seen through the glass window. So 1940s. This really has burst my bubble, I really wish I could have a homebirth! Anyone out there know a good midwife that would do that at home for me?
