period's very different

we have been trying for almost a year now but no luck so far to become pregnant.

I do watch my cycle closely I was a bit surprised that my period's have been very different the last few months. 3 months ago it only lasted for a day and a half and hardly anything. Now its flowing like crazy. Last month was 'normal' and once before that it lasted rather long but not much.

This is pretty new to me. I am still very regular but the type of period is so different.

Anybody has the same experience?

We did see a doctor recently to discuss possible for possible test & check-up's. We want to wait a bit longer with that but still I wonder what all this might mean.

Yes, I can relate. I was on the pill for years, and came off it in Feb this year. I thought my periods would be heavier, instead they were much lighter, two days, except for my two miscarriages. I've just been to a TCM (I learnt that here!!) doctor and have been told that my spleen chi is weak (I do have digestive probs), so I'm on a 9 day chinese medicine treatment, and a couple of days before my ovulation they will change the herbs to assist implantation. Also I've been very stressed lately (I thought I was coping with the miscarriages and work etc, but apparently not!), had a really bad cold last week, and my period was two days late, which NEVER has happened before. The docs told me that stress and illness plays a huge part in the whole cycle, which soothed me a lot, cause I was stressing even more at the delay!!


I am also proud to say that I had my first accupuncture session at the same time! Two in my stomach and one on each leg. It didn't hurt at all. I'll have to have another one mid-cycle, same time they change the herbs, will keep you posted.


Note also, that the one time I had a miscarriage but did not miss my period (eg, I got pregnant, knew of it before my period, then got unpregnant before my period), it came on time, but was a very different colour and flow - wine instead of red, but lasted only two days again!


Yes, this is all new to me too, and I commiserate!

Go for a check up to see if you have developed a fibroid in your uterus or if you have cysts on your ovaries - i had my cycle screwed up by a fibroid - everything went back to normal once it was removed.
