We have just found out that our insurance will not pay up front for the hospital stay at Matilda and therefore may need to go through QMH instead. I am 35 weeks and was planning on elective c section as I had a c section before can you elect for c section at QMH and if so how do I register so late on?

as far as i know, public hospitals in hk will only perform c-sections if it is deemed absolutely necessary during labour or before labour.
in private hospitals you can have elective c-sections.

Technically the above posts are correct. However, I am with the public health system, and like you had a c-section the first time round (emergency), I was quite surprised when essentially I was offered on a plate the chance to have a second c-section this time round (I'm 33 weeks). Other friends who have gone through the QM who have had c-sections first time round (medically necessary) have then found similararly the offer of elective c-sec for their seconds.
Registration is easy, take a copy of your antenatal notes, proof of address (eg bill in your name, your ID, copy of husbands ID, and head down to the Tsan Yuk on Hospital road in Sai Ying Pun, they will then get you in the system and you will have the chat about "what type of birth plan" you are aiming for.

Thanks Sarah for your reply. This is my first time, and I am looking at public health system specifically QM and Tsan Yuk. I'm over 40 and so it is hard to get c section for the first time?
