Anyone had one with Dr Dawkins (I know that he is pro-natural delivery)?

Thanks NewHK. I am keeping my options open as am only 13 weeks along but was wondering if he still did a good job with a c-section (ie: small scar etc) since he probably doesn't end up doing as many as other doctors since people choose him for his pro-delivery stance. Thanks for the reassurance.

Anyone else??

yup i also had an emergency c-section with dr dawkins and it was a very pleasant experience! he is an absolute pro. i wouldn't be concerned that he's done "less" c-sections because he is pro-natural... he's been delivering babies for over 20 years so i'm sure he's done plenty! my scar is very neat and tidy, and i too was out of bed the next day and walking around 2 days later. he plays classical music in the operating theatre which i thought was just lovely. :)

I think it's important to recognize that each person scars differently. I didn't go to Dawkins, but to another doctor with "magic fingers" and I have a nasty scar because my whole family is prone to keloids. I too was up and walking around in a day, out to dinner in a restaurant with the baby in 5 with minimal discomfort.

Thanks exeter. I don't scar that well either but I have no idea even how big a cut they need to make so all info useful.

yes... whilst i said i had a great experience with dawkins i did not mention that my scar turned into a keloid!! cos that has nothing to do with the doctor nor his surgical proceedure. i am very prone to keloids and knew it would happen. the point is, the scar albeit keloided is still very small and neat, if you know what i mean. :)

btw, the incision is about 10 cm - not very big at all!

I am seeing Dr Dawkins for my pregnancy (due in April) and although he is v pro-natural, I will probably go for an elective as I had an emergency c-section with my son. Dr Dawkins told me that he has done many many c-sections, so I am not worried!
