Hi there
I'm a mature studnet midwife at Oxford Brookes University in the UK.
I'm trying to arrange a summer 'observation' placement in China for 2-3 weeks as part of my elective looking at childbirth in a different cultural setting.
I have a friend living in Guangzhou who has kindly given me a list of local hospitals. However being a man he has not had to access maternity services, as yet,so I thought I would seek additional advice. Therefore if anyone can suggest hospitals that I might approach or has any contact names that may help get me started then I'd be very grateful.
Many Thanks
Laura
Just like to say that I've been reading through your postings and think it's a really good source of support and information for women, something which seems to be sadly lacking in maternity care.

You can search on the internet the addresses of the public hospitals :
Queen Mary Hospital (the best one)
Pamela Youde (also good)
Prince of Wales
Princess Margaret
And the privates ones:

Good luck :-)

Laura -
hospitals above are for HK not Guangzhou. You may want to list this on Guangzhou practicals page if you are looking for a list.

If you look into Beijing or Shanghai you can try:
http://www.unitedfamilyhospitals.com/
Also try contacting La Leche League. A frequent user of this site 'Ruth at Clifford' was involved with LLL in Guangzhou, although she has since moved away, she will be able to put you in touch with Guangzhou information.
If you have no luck in China, you can try Annerley Midwife in Hong Kong - www.amidwife.com
