Dear all,

I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 yrs without any success. I think it is time to seek from professional advice. Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Alex Doo in Central? Appreciate it if you could share your views.

Please note, like mother always said "if we dont have something good to say about someone please dont post on the AsiaXPAT forums... instead you can contact someone directly using the messaging system in your control panel."

If you have had a positive experience please feel free to post here

I had him for my pregnancy recently, but not for fertility issues.

He was always running late for appointments but I really liked him. Chatty and nice guy - reassuring too. Told me lots of things without my having to ask questions all the time.

Helped us get preg and delivered our baby. He's also totally pro natural birth. I know a few women who had serious problems during their preg and he did a great job. Personally I think he is outstanding and has a great bedside manner and attitude. He's busy and runs late because he is popular and he won't rush things. He's sweet and caring but believe me on the big day of your delivery he's a real bossy boots ;)

There is an other great Doc here in HK who has an excellent success rate for fertility. However he also has a reputation for preforming emergency C sections at the drop of a hat. If it was me I would go with Doo.

Mr. Miggins,

You mentioned that Dr. Alex Doo had helped you get pregnant. Would you mind telling me whether you had done IUI or IVF and how many times?

I am sure Dr. Doo is great OB/GYN but I am more concerned about his experience, reputation, knowledge, success rate, etc, regarding fertility treatment.

Just a follow up on Mrs Miggins comment, I think it makes sense to take first things first. That is, FIRST choose the fertility doctor you think will give you the best treatment. THEN, if you're successful, there're any number of OB's in town who'd be delighted to carry you through.

I went to Doo first, mostly because I wanted a natural birth, but in the end, I feel I had more personalized/appropriate treatment with Dr Ho. And I didn't wait so long, or feel as rushed either :-) but that's ancillary to the treatment.

It's fine to look at success rates, if you can get your hands on them (I never could.) But remember that some doctors will take more challenging patients just to give those couples a chance, despite the impact on the statistics.

I went to Dr. Doo for PCOS and infertility (IUIs). Dr. Doo is a very nice person and a caring doctor, but I found him to be extremely inconsistent in the medical treatment I received from visit to visit. If you want more details, please feel free to contact me.
