Breastfeeding while pregnant

My story:

I continued to Bf my second child three months into my third pregnancy (he then weaned himself). I then fed my third child into the sixth month of my fourth pregnancy, my daughter was 27 months when I gently weaned her.

I had planned to continue and tandem feed, but just decided that when the baby came (considering she would be number 4!) she needed to have something all to herself.

Some women experience braxton hicks, some women even try to nurse to encourage labour to begin. I did not experience any uterine irritability.

Yes, in most cases. At this time no medical study has been done on the safety of breastfeeding during pregnancy so it is impossible to list any definitive contraindications. If you are having a complicated pregnancy, such as lost weight, bleeding, or signs of preterm labor, you should problem-solve your individual situation with your caregiver. Depending on your individual situation and feelings you may decide that continued breastfeeding, reduced breastfeeding, or weaning is for the best.
