Never been to one because of the long queues. Does anyone know that if my target is just to go to the english section, will the queue be shorter? Also, anyone been to HK Book Fair for the english books (not for kids, more for adults) - is it worth going?

I've went the bookfair english section and I think it's worth to go as they have the English Avenue which is a convenience way to shop most of the english bookstores in Hong kong in a centralized location, like bookazine, swindon, metrobooks........ And seeems this year the area would be increased 50% than before, should be fine.

And every year, there is a zone called Children’s Paradise for kids books, so, it is no problems to find adults books in English Avenue.

Have you vsited the bookfair website? I found they have exhibitors and book search function, very convenience, you can have a try:

Good luck~

RJF,

Best go there on the 23rd July 2010. The stuff you will see in the Book Fair are books authored by the following: Stephen Fry, Frederick Forsth, Andrew Roberts, Anthony Harowitz,James Fenton, Andrew Xia Fukuda and Xu Xi. The above authors are here for this event so most of their books are the one on display.

Whiskie,

I dunno how to share photos here as well...

I went to the bookfair with my local friends and they brought me to the Art Gallery! I agreed with you that it is worth to visit and the Chinese Opera costumes really very nice and exoctic~And there were some Chinese painting, sculptures, tea sets, ancient jade pieces and bamboo strips, and some old HK photos~

And one more recommandation!! Don't miss the calligraphy performance and the Chinese Orchestra there!! It is a pity that when we arrived the Art Gallery at 5pm, the show was nearly end~ The staff said everyday would have 2 performance time, 2:30 and 4:45!!

so, for those who went, was the queue to get into the Book Fair bad? or was there no queue? Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to go. But good that you all updated on events there.

Retired,

not bad, but I went on weekdays, not sure how it is on weekend.

But the booth for Page One is really great, I got a number of books there, recommend you to go next year.
