In one shape or form, we are all aware of the problems facing the planet's oceans, especially in the Hong Kong area; pollution, over fishing and shark finning, to name a few, have put intense pressure on the balance of ocean ecology globally. Yet many consider this to be simply an out-of-sight, out-of- mind environmental issue and not a humanitarian one... At Party With A Purpose, we beg to differ! The issues have all been caused by humans and the end results will affect all, not just aquatic life.


Now Hong Kongers can party with a purpose, as a number of organizations and businesses have pooled their creative expertise to launch Oceans ’11, a non- profit house music event, hosted by a society for all conscious minded party animals, Party With A Purpose (www.partywithapurpose.com.hk).

The event supports three non-profit ocean related charities (Ocean Recovery Alliance, Hong Kong Shark Foundation, and Earth Island Institute: Save Japan Dolphins), shedding light on the pressing marine issues that are faced today, such as plastic waste, rising mercury levels, disappearing wild life, shark finning and dolphin slaughter.


Whether you support one or all of these causes, join us at Republik on June 11 at 9pm, in honour of World Oceans Day (June 8) and to have a great time with like-minded individuals. The evening will feature house music DJs, including DJ Antwone, DJ Costef and Kris Sawatzky, as well as guitarist/vocalist Ewald Jordaan and additional live performances, all accompanied by captivating visuals from photographer James Gabbard.

100% of all ticket sales go directly to the charities, as well as a percentage of the drink sales, and everything from website design, ticket sales, door prizes and venue have been contributed by organizations and businesses here in Hong Kong. And to help get the party started, VnC Cocktails are providing a free drink on entry for early guests!
