Proof of Stamp Duty having been paid?

Is there any way of telling whether a landlord has paid stamp duty?

We just signed a lease and gave our new landlord a cheque to cover our stamp duty. He said he has done it online but has so far failed to produce any proof/receipt.

Is there any way of finding out whether he has actually paid it?

If the stamp duty is paid online then a certificate is issued by the Govt and he should be able to give you a copy.

Big thanks for the reply.

The problem is he hasn't/won't give us a copy despite numerous requests.

I was wondering if there was anyway of checking online (or any other method) to ensure he has paid. Just aware that if it hasn't been registered we are exposed on our contract.
