What does 'External building renovation' really mean?

We have just moved to HK and after much hunting have found an apartment we really like. Unfortunately the landlord tells us there are plans underway to renovate the outside of the building and that this will likely mean scaffolding and blocked windows for 6 months. Should we run a mile? Or is this something that can be lived with without too much headache?
