i am moving to hk next month and considering DB to live (have a young family). Do I have to pay the estate agents to find me a property to rent?

what would 20k-24k get me in terms of space (prefer low rise building)?

thanks in advance!

DB is either a place you'll love or hate, personally I wouldn't live there if you paid me. You could take a look out Sai Kung way, you could get a 4 bedroomed, 3 storied town house for your budget. A large expat community lives out that way.

To Spare rib hk, I would definatley recommend Sai kUng and Clearwater Bay to live. Not sure what kind of thing you could get for 12K. My friend was renting out their 1400sf fairly new duplex with roof for 10K. so I'm sure there would be something in that price range. Have seen many 700sf apartments for 6k.

There are many estate agents in Sai Kung town, have a trip out there one day and have a look. We used Teresa at Ricacorp in Marina Cove, she was excellent, was also recommended Marco at Eastmount.

Dear Arul1907,

I personally find it pleasurable living in DB, it's about 25 minutes to Central, and 15-20 mintues from Disneyland HK. It's got a huge expat community here, at least less boring than Taikoo or Saigon...

For your budget, you should be looking for the low rises in DB. You can get a terrace flat around 1200'-1300' near the pier (Seabird or Seahorse), or you can get an apartment near the coast (Coastline Villa) with nice seaview...

You should call this number when you get to hongkong 81092987, this guy's english is pretty damn good, and he can show you around.
