Hi all
I am coming out to HK 6/7th Aug for at least 6 months, working for a large Uk retailer, my questions are the following:
1) HQ for the agent is is Kowloon, where would you suggest i look to rent accomadation, as I have not been to HK before (budget around 5/10 hkd per month)
2) will that budget get me a rat hole or something reasonible?
3) I will need to travel to Yantian 2/3 times aweek, is this difficult and what is the best method?
4)What about visa for Yantian?
5)Would i be better looking to stay in Yantian?
6)What is the cost of food and social life in HK like?
So many questions and so little time, thank you for the information and i look forward to the adventure.
Regards Phil

Hi Amy,
Thank you for the info it was a great help to get facts and not fiction. the company has several offices but i will be based in the office detailed below.
15 WANG CHIU ROAD, this is not far from Kowloon MTR (I think)
Can you recommend a good agent regarding renting property.
How much does public transport cost approx?
Yantian is i believe in the shenzhen region just over the border(i think) and someone said that a high speed ferry ran to and from, but i do not really know.
Thanks Phil

Hi Romina
Thank you for the info, I have arrived in HK and currently staying in Park Lane Hotel (Causeway Bay) will begin looking for accom in the morning.
The place of work will be in the Shenzhen region within the free trade zone. The retailer is Knickerbox and Anne summers, what brand do they represent (your retailer)
The idea is that on avverage i will travel travel across two/three times aweek in the early days to setup the operation.
Although I have been to HK sveral years ago as a tourist it seems a little scary at the momment, but i am sure i will get into it. I,m not a party animal really maybe wish i was buyt not anymore.
Any areas you could suggest that would be between Kowloon and southern China border?

Hi Phil,Welcome to HK. Hope you settle in ok
you will get to know your way in a day or so,
is quite easy to get around ,great MTR
If you travel often to Shenzhen, you might consider Kowloon Tong (Kowloon side,KCR link To China.Travel time TO SHENZHEN about 40 Minutes)
good balance if you decided to go on the TST
or Island Pubs scene,Other suitable places
Tai Po, University, More toward China .Prices are better.
BUT IT CAN BE A BIT OVERWELMING
If you like the Island in Braemer Hills
Try Pacific Palisade neas Hang Hau
(ask my friend she stayed there
travel time to China 1 1/2 HR Approx
Send me your email and i will drop you some more info and tel No.
The retailers i do work for
(as manufacturer /Supplier are Hof,Karen M,JL

Hi Phil, welcome to HK, hope you enjoy living in HK.
I think I have a flat that is suitable for you. The flat is a 780 ft with 3 bedrooms. There are a few foreigners living in the same housing estate.
It takes 5 minutes to Tai Wai KCR where you can go China by KCR (30 min. from Tai Wai to Lo Wu/ShenZhen).
It take only 20 mintes from Tai Wai KCR to Kowloon Bay MTR(Wang Chiu Road).
where you workoon.
My flat is in the middle between your working place and China(where you travel 2/3time a week). and it take only 15 min to monkok or Tsim Sha Tsui where is the heart of Kowloon.
It rent only $9000 per month for 780 ft. swimming pool for all residents is avaliable.
Renovation will be start in sept and available for rent in the late of Sept.
thank you for your attention!
