Any statutory control for the rental of apt.

My landlord just informed me the rent will be increased to more than 30%. As I heard from my friends, the rental can't increase more than 20% in once time. I'm not sure is it true. Do any one know that the rental of apartment has statutory control? Thx

Hang in. DON'T let them win. Make an offer, say 10%-11% depending on the size of your flat, if he won't accept then invite him to the tribunal. You will win.

We must NOT let these people get away with this kind of greed. From Dai Pai Dongs to Mitsukoshi, from Sham Shui Po to Sum Place on the Peak. We must say NO!

did you successfully get the clause to cap increases in future years?

I am not a tenant, but a potential landlord.

I would not mind such a clause (say capping at 5% per year, which is close to the inflation rate), especially if the flat is already rented at a fair market rate.

just my viewpoint.

as there are ugly landlords, there are ugly tenants as well.
