hi i am a 26 year old guy from california, Chinese american, doesnt speak chinese, but trying to learn. Figured now would be a good time to move around and see the world, so i am planning 10 months in shanghai.....only problem is that i dont have a clue what any of the areas is like. I dont want super expensive, but then i dont want super slums either...just nice, and with nice people my age...any advice?

I had worked in SHA for 02 years. Enrol yourself in Mandarin class, u get to learn the language and meet people who r in similiar situation like u. Similiarly, like any other developing countries, watch out for people (especially girls) who seem to be exceptionally nice.
