We're currently planning our move to HK from Aus and wondering whether it's worth while bring white goods such as fridge (Medium size) and washing machine and dryer. Firstly are they able to be used (with an adaptor) and secondly what is normally provided in most apartments. we are looking at 2/3 bedrooms in mid-levels and it's hard to get a handle on what is provided. I'd appreciate any comments.

Hi, is fortress the best place for me to go find household appliances eg. vacuum cleaner, microwave oven, and digital devices such as laptops? Are their prices competitive? Or are there other shops i shld go take a look too?

thanks for the responses. all much apreciated. on the basis that most apartments come without, our first three months rent and shipping (rather than set up costs) are taken care of, it may still make sense to ship existing if power requirements are suitable.
any final thoughts?

The appliances may not fit. For example in a small HK kitchen, you may only be able to fit a small washing machine (45cm wide). It is not uncommon for fridges to be kept in the living room, or spare room if one is available.

Our apartment was furnished (by the Landlord)with a very nice 'fridge, washing machine, clothes dryer and dishwasher. Glad we didn't bring ours, would have had no where to put it. Of the 20+ apartments we looked at only one or two did not have inbuilt white goods. We may have been lucky, but am not aware of any of my friends having to supply their own.
