Does anyone know much about Lamma Island?? A friend of mine said she stayed with someone there and it was really great.
I have a little one (2 years old) and my husband will be working in Central but I believe it's only 15 minutes by ferry - is that true??
Can anyone tell me more about it??
thanks so much ex-pats.

It's sounds like the Bryon Bay of Hong Kong!!! What's it like for getting to Central on a daily basis! Also I was told there's some good yoga classes there. Do you know if that's true if so where exactly could they be found? What about schools - a kindergarten was mentioned - do you know what age they take kids from? Also what about when they get older - is there a international school or anything?
thanks so much for sharing your knowledge of Lamma.

Daddy Long Legs
yeah...not everyone is working in IFC...after your "relaxed" ferry ride in the morning, most people still have to take buses and mtr to get to their office...and cause of the nice ferry ride you have to get up even earlier...

Spent the afternoon at Lamma today... what a great vibe!
What's the deal with those 3 smoke stacks... any issue with pollution if the wind is blowing the wrong way?

re smokestacks -thats the powerstation -and thats HK alas- take a lovely island and plonk a big dirty powerstation on it- thats the thinking behind why very few blue sky days these days-still if you are moving to HK the outlying islands are the best places to live IMHO.Have a look at Mui Wo /Sth Lantau Discovery bay also -Sai Kung is nice but congested traffic at weekends.Your budget is a factor too ...all the islands have become more expensive here and it will only continue.
Expats are flocking to the island locations and beachside districts -but lots of the village house rentals are being bought up to turn into Cathay Castles and the like so rentals are tight etc
Good luck
Nowhere is easy...depends where you come from -Byron Bay it aint alas but there are echoes -i think it may have been blissful a decade or so ago here and before...

Every location has pros and cons. People who live on Lamma love the former more than the latter. Easy really ...
