Looking for good service apt, that is away from the very busy Central business area. My office is in this area, but I would like some fresh air and greeny if possible. I hear the Midlevel area is one good place. Is living on Kowloon and working on Hong Kong, too much of a communte everyday? Also like to be near, around other English speaking expats, locating a Western style grocery store. Any suggestions?

We're also moving from Chicago to HK.
When are you going, we think we'll be there by early summer, we should stay in touch.
We're thinking about looking for somewhere in Repulse Bay- any thoughts?

Hi Chicago2hk,
Depending on your budget...I would look into the Hong Kong Parkview service apt. It's up on the hill away from the city but has easy access to central. Great hiking right in your backyard. The Park N Shop (grocery store) on site there carries a good amount of western stuff. There is an abundance of expats in the Mid-Levels area and most grocery stores here carry western food. There are other places here that carry western food such at City Super, Great and Gateway. Don't expect to find Double Stuff Oreas in all the super markets but they will at least have Oreos. Also expect to pay more for the imported goods but you will find there are things here that can be substituted for things back home.
Good Luck!!!

Check out moveandstay.com for lots of serviced apartment options but if you can afford it take the advice and go with Parkview.

For western food/supermarket definately visit City Super or Great. City Super is in IFC mall, above the Airport Express and in basement of Times Square in Causeway Bay. Great is in the basement of Pacific Place mall.
