Moving to new territories

ORIGINAL POST

My family and I currently live in Happy Valley and are thinking about moving out to the new territories for more space and a bit of greenery. My son goes to school in Kowloon Tong and I work in Central. Any advice on how easy it is to commute to school and work places and what areas are nice would be appreciated. Also if we need a car....

Depends on which area of NT you want to move to, but there are a number of bus routes that go directly to Central & school bus services to KLN Tong. I live in Sham Tseng, which has great views of the Tsing Ma bridge--there is a Citybus that goes to Admiralty & also a shuttle that passes through Central. My neighbors have kids that go to school in KLT and commute is about 45 mins.

Tai Po, Fo Tan and Sha Tin are all on the KCR, direct to Kowloon Tong and TST, very convenient. I've been looking in these areas and there are a lot of good apartments and houses available.

Palm Springs in Yuen Long offers town houses with clubhouse facilities with reasonable prices. there are direct shuttles to Central during peak hours. Lots of private school bus to Kowloon Tong too.

Hong Lok Yuen is a very nice place. Big house, same rental as on HK island. A school for children, a park'n shop with many foreigner food, a doctor, a club house, a laundry, etc....

Inside there is a round a minibus which go to TaiWoKCR in 5 min for 5.5hk$.

Lowu is only 20min from your house by train and Tsim sha tsui 45min.

You are closed to the town, without the inconvenients.
