Cost of taxi to Central from Sai Kung

I am moving to HK later this month with my husband and 2 small children. From having spoken to different people and reading the comments on this forum, I feel that we have to compromise on travelling time with having more space for less rent.

We're trying to work out if Sai Kung is a viable option. A couple of things we dont know are: how much does it cost to take a taxi to or from Sai Kung and how long can it take? I can imagine both of these will vary with peak hour traffic, but I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a few ideas about the cost.

Thanks.

From Sai Kung and Clearwater Bay there are many buses going to either Choi Hung or Hang Hau MTR stations, where it is a 20 min train ride to central.

I concur with most of the above posts, although I have to say Discovery Bay holds no appeal to me at all.. The Sai Kung/ Clearwater Bay area isn't that remote from Central (I do the door-to-door journey in under an hour, on public transport, from Clearwater Bay to IFC2) and out of peak hours it's usually less than 20 minutes by car to Causeway Bay. In my opinion the many benefits of living here far outweigh the few negatives.

Even quicker with a car (on a good run), the other evening I did from near the university to central, and parked in 24mins.
