The Bel Air complex - what do you guys think of this place? We are a couple with 2 boys - what are the facilities like for children, does it feel crowded to live there? My husband is worries about being in a tower complex and the hygene - is this a concern?
Also, is it quite a social place and accepting of kids?

We have been living in Bel-Air on the Peak with two kids (7 and 3)for nearly nine months and have been enjoying it. Kids have more space to play in the club houses and need not travel far for interest classes. The hygene, with the balconies and large windows, is better than many other high rises in HK. Our apartment is breezy and my kids are less prone to sickness when compared to their school-mates.

Hi,
I move to Bel Air with my family at the end of august. And I have a question :
Do you have to pay for facilities ? Is it expensive ?

The shuttle service, use of swimming pool, gym, sauna etc are all free for the residents. Booking of tennis courts/function rooms are chargeable. Details of the charges are set out in the leaflets available in the clubhouse.

We've lived in Bel-Air on the Peak for 16 months, which puts us among the longest-standing residents. It is nicer than Bel-Air phases 1 and 2, in that it is less crowded, although this may change when the neighbouring phases are completed. The gym and indoor pool are better here, although if you want to use badminton courts, tennis courts, outdoor pool, etc, they are all down at phases 1 and 2 (and, no matter what anyone says about using the shuttle bus, after 16 months this is quite a bore). 1 and 2 also have easy access to Cyberport park - the best local place for children to cycle - and the shops/cinema. No problems with the social side or suitability for children.
As far as hygiene is concerned, this is not generally a problem although, according to the notices posted around, some tenants throw water, cigarette butts and other rubbish off their balconies, which mainly affect the 7th floor (which have larger patios, so the rubbish lands here).
One other exception on the hygiene front. Hong Kong is always full of surprises and today was no different. Today, a sign at the Bel-Air outdoor pool read something like 'please do not throw excrement off your balconies into the pool'. Apparently some residents (presumably from phase 1, unless they have very strong throwing arms) have been throwing s#*t from their balconies into the communal pool. Quite astonishing and totally repulsive!

Yesterday, I happened to visit a client whose family (w 1 boy & 1 girl, 5 years & 8 years) is also among the first residents of Bel-Air. She told me its an ideal place for families. Her children like it most as they made friends and enjoy the facilities on a daily basis e.g. swimming pool etc are safe and nice being brand new and have good management. Even a very senior guy of Pacific Century (Bel-Air's property developer) recently moved to live in a duplex unit with his family. She told me she won't consider moving elsewhere as theres nothing better in the South side within her budget. I left my contact in you inbox last week. pls let me know if you need any help.

We are also considering to move to Bel Air on the Peak - For the facilities at all the phases, do they generally get quite crowded during the weekend? e.g the pool, kids room, gym etc. Thanks

The club house organises the following interest classes - arts & crafts, drama & speech (with kids Gallery), dance (with Jeanne Wong Dance school), taekwando, tennis and swimming lessons. There is no need to travel to Central for interest classes.

do the interest classes get really busy? are the swimming lessons as a group?
does anyone know how much rental a 4 bedroom apt would roughly cost per month?

The popularity of interest class varies. My daughter waited for sometime before she could join the kid's ballet class as the specific class appropriate for her age was full at the time. Other classes are less busy I believe. Beginners swimming class have up to 4 kids in a group. You could also arrange one-to-one tuition separately.
