My landlord has just phoned me to tell me that he has sold my flat and passed my rental agreement to the new owner. I am 10months into a 2 year rental. I have not heard from the new landlord/agent but I am suppose to pay my rent to the new landlord (it is due at the end of the month, in 7 days). I have to arrange a new electricity and water contract.
Is this normal? Is there anything I should look out for? Please advise.

It happens quite a lot so do not worry. As you are a sitting tenant the contract still applies.

Make sure your deposit is transferred to the new owner. Alternatively the old owner should return it to you and you pay it to the new owner. Otherwise the old owner may keep it and you'll still have to give the deposit to the new owner.

I agree with Patrick, you can change the rental payment only upon formal notification by the new landlord's solicitor
