Rental increases in the NTs

ORIGINAL POST

My landlord just told me today he wants to increase my rent from 9500 to 12K. I really do not think that rent has increased that much in Shatin in the last year and a bit, has it?

Where can I go to find comparisons of rental prices in my area?

All depends where you are in Shatin. There have been price increases even in the not so good areas. Which complex are you in?

I'm up in Castello, near the Tate Cairn Tunnel.

I know Castello quite well, and although those for sale have not increased hugely I have seen rents there vary from around 13K for the 2 bed 718s/ft up to around 18K for those over 1000s/ft.

Best to look in the Estate agents, there used to be some down near the little parade of shops (near 7-11) although not sure if still there now. Or take a run down to the Estate agents over near City 1 or near to Yu Chui Court.

Yes that does say English but when you go through to search it is in Chinese only! Been like that for a while now.

This site seems fine when i follow the above insturctions from sai kung. maybe your computer brower needs setting modifications?

Internet Explorer - Tools - Internet Options - General - Temporary Internet Files - Settings - Then check "Every visit to the page". Hope this helps you.

Doesn't work on any machine here, and there is also a topic about this on another site. Seems you two are the only people in HK who can search Centaline in English! Clicking on Eng on the server above (hint: do not use the ehome.htm) takes you to a site not found.

Certainly not browser settings......
