renovating in Discovery Bay

Hi all, first post here!

I've done a search and read a lot of threads about renovating and the hassles with finding a good contractor.


My main problem is that i'm in Discovery Bay and not many guys like to come over here -- and if they do, they want to charge me a shedload extra for it.


Can anyone please recommend a contractor who is in DB or will come to DB and is reliable and honest and won't rip me off too much?


I can speak Cantonese so a non-gwailo is fine.


My apartment is 650 square feet and i want the lot done including floor tiles, new kitchen and bathroom, a new doorway put in, an old doorway patched up, light fittings, split system air con, ceiling fans, painting, built in cabinets etc.

I have just done some renovating on my flat. I do not know about the first guy but I can say as far as the second guy is concerned, he is generally not very honest. He charges you for things that should be done or regarded as standard for.eg floor skirting. He lies that the common wall painting should be done by the management when because it is within your compund or area, he should do it as he was already paid to do the painting for the flat. There are other issues but safe to say that if you do decide to use the guy - Be Very Careful. I am still waiting for him to finish up the odds and ends he is suppose to do after 2.5 weeks of moving in ... then again perhaps all contractors have this bad habit of saying they will come and don't turn up.
