After one amazing year in Marina Cove, back to reality our owner will sell our house, we have to move within two months.

So we started again looking for a property and prices look crazy.

We need a three bedrooms, and nice environment, we left HKG island one year ago due to too high prices and environment;

after checking prices and size in Sai Kung and CWB... we are now thinking about moving in Gold Coast as it seems quite cheap for good environment.

My husband and I work in Kowloon side we have one son 2 yrs old.

Any comment on the quality of life in Gold coast, we are french so how does it look like for western to live there, what about for kids?

We will go for an apartment and not a house as houses are too expensive.

Thanks a lot in advance, I am really looking forward receiving comments from people who live there

Used to visit friends in the Gold Coast complex, seemed very nice, good for kids.

We visited the place as a possible location to live. I thought the enviroments were nice. However the whole place seems very run down, including the industrial like apartments.

However it is good value for money. If you don't mind old apartments I havent seen anything as competitive. It's also inconvenient for the school for my children in Kowloon. Though there is an international kindy in the area you will have to travel a bit once your child is in grade 1.

There were lots of foreigners there when we visited and the HK sales office said 70% of the apartments are owned by foreigners.

Loyd,

Is there a ferry to Kowloon area? Any schools? There website is atrocious. Hard to read the info (way too small).

Thanks.

Hi,

I am in the opposite poition. I am moving from just next to Gold coast over to SaiKung. The area is nice, but the air isn't a clean as SaiKung. You get a lot of the pollution from Shenzhen. Water isn't as clean as SaiKung either.

The dining scene is bad - Sai Kung is in another league.

But, the facilities are good, and there are many expats - though far fewer than Saikung.

Have you thought of moving towards Ma On shan to get a cheaper rent?

Matt
