Hi
can anyone offer insight or advice on setting up a distrubution business in the US? Specifically for home linens? My business already sells to the US but I would prefer just to be based there for personal reasons and I also feel that having a direct US presence will grow my business since I'm only selling to US importers at the moment.
Ideally I would like to base the operation in California. I've heard of several people from Hong Kong setting up in the US but would appreciate any additional input.

Sounds like you want the usual base here for manufacturing.
I dont know too much bit since no one else is helping, heres what i know for sure.
First off you need to set up a Limited company in HK.
Easily done, costs about 10000 HK to have done right then it takes about 2 weeks and you are on your way. You accountant can have you company "located" at their office and act as Co. Secretary for a fee.
