Hi all,

I want to build a stone/rock wall on my property.

Where's the best place to get supplies?

I would prefer schist stone or similar.

Hi there,

I'm a little unsure of what would be the best way to go about it really. Basically, I need a fence and haven't decided what would be the best style. At the moment I am thinking along the lines of something in the 8-10 feet range in height, with 3-4 feet of stone and pillars and then 3 or 4 wooden panels on top. I am open to any ideas, help I can get.

I know the style you are talking about and that sounds quite nice. Depending on your power point location it will be good to install some lights on the fence. Do you live in a village house? If so, have the other properties nearby got fences walls around them?

In regards to illegal structures, the lands department will normally make an issue of it if someone complains as they need to follow up. There are lots of ways you can go about this (walls or fences) but would need to know more about the surrounding environment where you live.

iknow - please can you tell me where to look up information about building approval for a tall wall. I have looked at lands dept, building dept etc but cannot find anything that gives any guidelines - I need a tall wall and I want to go about it the right way.
