Village House versus Complex living

ORIGINAL POST

We are currently looking at options on whether to live in a Village House versus the complex apartment. Have 3 children and they love the outdoor environment. We currently live in an apartment and have grassed play areas but they are purely to "look at" not to use. The positives with complex living is the security aspect. Village living doesnt guarantee that. We love the Ma On Shan area and our children are happy at their school so we do not want to relocate too far. Sai Kung is not an option for us and that seems to be where the Village Houses are........

Can anyone shed light for us on possible village house accomodation??????????

Agreed with Ken, and there are also villages close by, Wu Kai Sha, Sai O, Sai Sha, Sai Keng that all have expats in. Also look over towards Shatin, dozens of villages over that way, some as convenient as any apartment block and much safer than a village house on the sticks.

While it's true that there can be a particular type of person in a village and even tripod involvement in places this does tend to be in more out of way places or far, far north in places such as Yuen Long as mentioned. The more urban villages do not have this issue. However there is always a village chief and his word is authority which can cause issues sometime.

You may want to consider low density places if your budget allows.

Places like Fairview Park, Hing Lok Yuen offer security of a complex but you live in a house with garden, join the club and you get pool gym etc
