I've been surprised on several occasions lately when returning faulty goods back to the place where I purchased them. (Usually a very large HKG electronics chain). The predominant response is that I am given a quickly photocopied map and shown where the manufacturers office is. No mention of a refund or exchange from the seller. As a busy expat with no Chinese language skills, I find this considerably frustrating and disappointing since my purchase was from the seller, not the manufacturer. In the UK, NZ and Australia, my faulty goods would be exchanged immediately with a smile and an apology. What does the law in HKG have to say about this practice?
