Collecting rental money does not equate to working. Yes, you must tell the Inland Revenue and they will advise you what to do. I assume you would have to pay Property Tax which is not that onerous. Whatever you do, don't try to be clever and avoid paying tax.

There is a duty to report to the Inland Revenue on any property income received from property in Hong Kong.

In order to deduct expenses from your collected gross income, you can establish a sole proprietorship and claim income under the Profit Tax regime. Our cost to assist on all HK$3,000!!

We can also assist on immigration visa requirement but NOTE: you can own property in Hong Kong without a visa.
