I'm thinking of moving over to Lohas Park. Was told that you could smell the stench of rubbish dumped nearby to that area. Went a couple of times there but couldn't smell anything. Rental is cheap although transport is a big problem as my daughter is in South Island School, Aberdeen, HK.
Rental in HK side is really expensive.
Anyone currently in Lohas Park? Would appreciate your feedback.
Thanks

I think the smell, if any, depends on the recent weather, the temperature, and the way the wind is blowing.
But in HK, these "common wisdom" notions arise, and it may take years to shake them, even if they are wrong. We had people tell us when we lived in Tung Chung, that is was the "most polluted part" of HK. And that was patently wrong. On survey showed that 4 years ago, and it took another 4 years of surveys showing it was not true before people began to accept reality.
Be careful about the notion of buying in Lohas Park. Rents are cheap there, and will stay cheap because of all the new supply coming, and that is likely to hold down prices too, until all the 50 or so towers are finished in 5 years or whatever.

With all the negative reports about the landfill nearby, and now with a recent report on The Standard (26th Oct) 2010 stating that Cheung Kong cut construction expenses of quality at Lohas Park. Does anyone knows the true report about how the developer is cutting cost? Also what's the final decision of the HK government regards to the extension of the nearby landfill?

Hi,
I looked at LOHAS and its not bad - smell is only bad on summer days with wind in wrong direction - even then not so bad. MTR only every 4th train goes from Tseung Kwan O.
I vastly prefer OCEAN SHORES though. Little bit pricier but so convenient. South Island school is easy. Buses from North Point which is only 7-10 mins on MTR from OCEAN SHORES - Tiu Keng Leng. Amazing clubhouse. New waterfront park being built.

I would second Ocean Shores...lived there for 2 years till landlord sold the flat. IMHO the quality (SHK) is better than LOHAS Park, and definitely more convenient, both to HK Island and Kln...one possible downside is the upcoming freeway to be built in front of the complex, in the sea beyond the park as part of the cross bay bridge project
