Option for tenants' particiation in renovation decisions

I live in a rental apartment and treasured relationship with the landlord who invited our participation to incorporate some of our ideas before we moved in.

Now I am trying to offer this flexibility to prospective tenants as we are about to give a flat on Conduit Road a makeover. Tough getting agents to work on that basis.

The standard questions from agents are :-

- is the flat ready

- can we take pictures

- when is the renovation going to finish

Says a lot about the mentality.

I guess people just don't believe there are reasonable landlords out there who wants to have a cordial relationship and a happy tenant family.

Sorry but as a landlord, I would say this is a really bad idea. All the tenant wants is someone decent who doesn't rip him/her off and is contactable when necessary. They are not looking for a love-in. Also, when it comes to renovation the rule is to keep things simple as you can't appeal to everyone's taste and you don't know how long the tenant will be there. Estate agents are looking for turnover.
